Today's spoiler is the Anvil Throne Crossbowman, a Dwarf with a ranged attack, fulfilling a much needed area of need for the Warlord. Yes, he already had Ludwig and Grimson, but they were legendary. That means only one of them could be on the field at a time. He also had the Goblin Slinger, but he was wimpy and not too powerful.
This new card changes that. Let's look at the stats.
Stats
Type: Creature
Subtype(s): Dwarf, Soldier
Mana Cost : 11
Casting Type : Full Action
Range : 0-0
Target : Zone
Level : War 3
Defense : N/a
Channeling : N/a
Armor : 1
Health : 8
Traits : Lightning +1
As I already mentioned, the Warlord desperately needed some creatures with ranged attacks. The War school doesn't currently have any flying creatures, so it needs a way to combat those. And the AtC does that wonderfully.
He compares favorably to the other archers, the Skeletal Archer and Royal Archer. Those two cards both cost 12 mana to summon, AtC costs 11. They both have 9 health, AtC has 8. The Royal Archer has one armor; the Skeletal Archer doesn't have any. AtC has one.
His attack is very good as well. The ranged attack rolls 3 dice and has a piercing of 2. That allows the attack to effectively get through the armor of almost all flying creatures. The other archers have a 4 dice attack, with either 1 or no piercing. So this attack compares well with those.
In addition, he has a not-too-shabby melee attack as well. 3 dice, which is better than both the other Archers. So if you opponent tries to bring a creature into his zone to prevent it from being shot with the crossbow bolt, the creature will still be in danger from the decent melee attack. This allows this card to be utilized in a variety of ways, not just as a ranged fighter.
Overall, I think this will be a great tool for the Warlord's spell book and fulfills a much needed role in his army.
